Mitaanjigamiing’s Movember Challenge

MFN Band Office

This November, we’re raising awareness for men’s health in a fun and meaningful way...by growing your best moustache! All men of Mitaanjigamiing are invited to participate by visiting the Band Office for before and after photos. Come clean-shaven on Friday, October 31st (9am–12 noon) and return with your Movember masterpiece on Monday, December 1st (9am–12 noon).Prizes include a beaded hat by Chuck Kaywaysaymat, Jets tickets, cash prizes, and a $250 award for the most creative look. Let’s show our support for men’s mental health and have some fun along the way. Pictures will be shared on the Mitaanjigamiing Facebook Page!

November 2025 Health Team Calendar

This November, join us for a month filled with wellness, culture, and community connection. From walking groups and language & lunch gatherings to ribbon skirt making, sharing circles, drumming, and karaoke nights, there’s something for everyone. We’ll also host special events including our two-day Beading & Sewing Session on November 8 & 9 and Family Photos on November 29. Come together, learn, laugh, create, and take care of your mind, body, and spirit alongside community members. All are welcome & we look forward to seeing you throughout the month!

Ribbon Skirt Making

Mitaanjigamiing First Nation Roundhouse

Join us every Tuesday in November for a special Ribbon Skirt Making workshop with Carolyn Henderson. Participants will learn how to create their own ribbon skirts in a welcoming, hands-on environment. Classes run from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Roundhouse (no session on November 11). Whether you're new to sewing or continuing your ribbon skirt journey, all are welcome. Lunch will be provided for participants. Come out and learn, create, and connect!

November 2025 Medi Van Schedule

Our November After-Hours Emergency Med Van schedule is now available. Desmond Jourdain and Ethan Tookenay will be alternating coverage to support the community after regular clinic hours. The Med Van operates Monday to Friday from 4:30 PM to 8:30 AM, and 24 hours on weekends. Please refer to the calendar to see who is on call each day and keep contact numbers handy for urgent support.

Foot Care Clinic

Mitaanjigamiing First Nation is pleased to welcome the Foot Care Nurse from Giishkaandago'Ikwe Health Services to the community on Monday, November 10th. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to receive professional foot care support, focused on comfort, health, and well-being. Karaoke Contest

Two exciting nights of karaoke are coming up on November 12 and 13, 2025! Youth Karaoke takes place on November 12, featuring cash prizes for categories like Funniest Performance, Best Rock, Best Pop, Best Look-A-Like, and Best Group. Adult Karaoke follows on November 13, with the same categories and larger prize amounts. Both events run from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and to ensure everyone gets a turn, each person or group may perform one song. Dance for Your Mind & Heart!

Families off-reserve are invited to join in “Dance for Your Mind & Heart!” by sharing a one-minute video of your family dancing together in any style, any age, and just pure joy. Dancing lifts our spirits, strengthens family bonds, and reminds us that laughter and movement are powerful medicine for mental wellness. Three videos will each win $300, with winners selected by Wheel of Names and shared on Facebook. Submit your video by November 17 at noon to Dawn Whitecrow at [email protected]. Let’s move together for mental wellness and family fun!

IRS & Day School Survivors Meeting

Join us on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 for an IRS & Day School Survivors Meeting at the MFN RoundHouse from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Survivors and community members are invited to gather, connect, and receive updates on the St. Margaret’s/Fort Frances Indian Residential School Reclamation Project, shared by Stacey Jack from Agency One Lands. Snacks and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Agency One, and there will be two participant draws. All are welcome! For any questions, please contact Chief Janice Henderson.

Mobile Winter Tire Installation

Mobile Tire Service will be in the community on Friday, November 21, 2025 for winter tire installations. Please have your winter tires ready at your home. All costs are the responsibility of the vehicle owner and can be paid by EMT. To book your spot, contact Erika by messenger or text 807-708-8721.
